Pegula’s tennis career
● Pegula turned pro in 2009 and made her Grand Slam singles debut at the 2015 U. S. Open as a qualifier. She beat Shuko Aoyama, Margarita Gasparyan and Melanie Oudin to reach the main draw and beat Alison Van Uytvanck in the first round. She was defeated in the second round in three sets by Dominika Cibulkova.
● Her lone professional tournament victory came in August 2019 when she captured the Citi Open in Washington, D. C., defeating Camila Giorgi in the final.
● In January 2020, she upset former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki to set up a final against top- seeded Serena Williams in the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand. Williams went on to beat Pegula 6- 3, 6- 4.
● She currently is ranked 61st in the world with career earnings totaling more than $ 912,000.
