Would you give up sex to be able to travel again?
1 in 5 polled also would dump partners for a trip
We knew Americans are desperate to travel again – but we didn’t know just how desperate until now: 38% of Americans polled by Trivago said they’d give up sex for a year if they could resume traveling immediately. For Brits, the number was even higher: 40%.
The travel accommodation platform surveyed 2,000 Britons and Americans over the course of a week in early January.
In their research, Trivago also found that 1 in 5 respondents would dump their partner for a chance to hit the road again and a quarter said they’d trade all theirs savings for a trip. Nearly half of the Americans polled said they’d give up their jobs, too.
About a quarter of the Americans and nearly a third of Brits said their goal for their first post- pandemic trip would be to spend time with family and friends they weren’t able to see because of COVID- 19 restrictions. For senior citizens, the numbers were even higher: 35% of
Americans and 47% of Brits.
More than half of the respondents said they’d adopted a new hobby during the pandemic and once it’s all over, about two- thirds ( U. S., 68%; U. K., 64%) said they’d probably choose a vacation related to that hobby.
The mere thought of their first postpandemic trip made more than half “excited.”
All told, upward of 4 out of 5 respondents said they view travel as a fundamental part of a good life and about two- thirds said once the pandemic ends, they will travel more than usual to make up for lost time.
