Don’t be a ‘ Stranger’ to K- pop’s CIX

- Olivia Munson

Since its debut in 2019, K- pop group CIX has worked hard to become strong, great performers. And with various music releases and their latest world tour, CIX is keeping up the momentum.

The group recently embarked on the U. S. leg of their second world tour with stops in New York City, Los Angeles and Washington, D. C.

USA TODAY spoke with the group about their tour and what being a part of CIX means to them.

Whether you’re a long- time FIX ( their fandom name) or just getting to know the group, here’s everything you need to know about CIX.

Who is CIX?

CIX ( pronounced C- I- X) is a five member K- pop boy group under C9 Entertainment. Composed of members BX, Seunghun, Bae Jinyoung, Yonghee and Hyunsuk, the group made its debut in 2019 with the extended play “Hello Chapter 1: Hello, Stranger” and single “Movie Star.”

When it comes to CIX, their music has an addictive beat.

“Bass is often the central sound of our music,” the group’s leader BX said. “I have great pride in our songs. I believe if more people listen to our music, they will definitely fall into our charms.”

These charms are seen throughout CIX’s many releases. Since debut, the group has released seven EPs, two full albums and several singles, including the haunting “Jungle,” dynamic “Numb” and melodic “Cinema.”

The group’s latest EP “OK Episode 1: OK Not” was released Aug. 22, 2022, with the title track “458.”

If you are just getting into CIX, Hyunsuk recommends “Movie Star” and “Cinema” as an introduction, sharing that the first track best represents the group’s identity, while the latter was a well- loved release.

“We hope to be the group where you find worthy to actually look for and spend your time watching,” said Jinyoung.

CIX 2nd world tour underway

In November 2022, CIX announced their second world tour with several shows in the U. S. The tour began on December 30 and 31, 2022 with two back- toback shows in Seoul.

On the “Save Me, Kill Me” tour, CIX will go to more U. S. cities than on their previous outings. “We’re here to promote CIX’s charms to FIX in the U. S., not only in the cities we’ve been to but also in new cities,” said Seunghun.

“We made promises to our fans in the U. S. last year, and I’m glad we’re able to keep that,” said Jinyoung. CIX will make stops in several U. S. cities, including:

● Los Angeles – Orpheum Theatre ( Friday).

● Oakland, California – Paramount Theatre ( Sunday).

With more shows, the group looks forward to fans getting to know them better.

Through a comprehensive set list, they get this opportunity, especially with solo performances from each member.

Whether it’s through the show’s start with “Numb” or the final bow, the members want to show their energy and love for the fans.

“I’m very happy when I perform the last track on the set list, ‘ The One,’” said Yonghee. “The song’s lyrics are something that we would like to say to our fans, so it’s a song which we can deliver our sincerity.”

And that sincerity toward FIX is continuous from CIX.

“Thank you to all fans who are with us during this U. S. tour,” said BX. “We’ll continue working hard and come back with more good music.”
