New York Giants

-

For the first time this season, QB Eli Manning and WR Odell Beckham Jr. were on the field. Instead of soaring, the Giants offense crashed in a 21-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

In four series, the first-team offense managed 32 yards on 16 snaps with three three-andouts. Manning completed four of nine passes for 44 yards. The running game had 15 yards on seven carries in the first quarter.

The offensive line was a big problem. Even with four of the five starters playing, along with No. 1 TE Larry Donnell, there were no holes for the runners and no time for Manning, who was sacked once. LT Ereck Flowers and C Weston Richburg were flagged for holding, and RG John

Jerry made a false start. The line’s issues have left the Giants a bit uneasy about the direction of their offense.

“You can’t freak out,” Manning told reporters, “but ... there’s got to be some urgency.”

Rookie watch: Undrafted DT Greg Milhouse took another step toward becoming the first player from Campbell University to play in the NFL with two tack- les, one for a 2-yard loss, Saturday. He had four tackles and a sack in the preseason opener.

Noteworthy: K Josh Brown’s one-game suspension for domestic violence issues opened the door for the other kicker in camp,

Tom Obarski. But in his first game action, the 23-year-old from Concordia University missed his only field goal attempt wide left from 27 yards. ... MLB Jasper

Brinkley worked with the first team during the week, but Kelvin

Sheppard got the start against the Bills.
