Tampa Bay Rays

“It’s just one of those things I can’t explain, to be honest. It’s crazy to me. … But I need to clean it up and figure all this out.”

Kevin Kiermaier, Tampa Bay’s Gold Glove center fielder, who was charged with three errors in a span of four games. That gave him four in 37 games this season compared with two in 104 games last season.

Struggling left-hander Blake Snell was demoted to Class AAA Durham (N.C.) after giving up six runs in Saturday’s loss at Boston. Right-handed reliever Erasmo

Ramirez, who lowered his ERA to 2.92 with two hitless innings Sunday, was the top candidate to take Snell’s spot in the rotation.

Snell, a Rays first-round pick (52nd overall) in 2011, is 0-4 with a 4.71 ERA in eight starts this season. He has not completed six innings since his first start of the season and is averaging 99 pitches per start even though his innings count has been low.

“We’ve got to get him to the kind of environment where he can pitch without the pressure of trying to win a major league game and focus on what got him good and what got him here in the first place,” Rays manager Kevin

Cash said. “We would not be doing this if it was not 100% in his best interest.” Hard-throwing right-hander

Ryne Stanek was called up to take Snell’s place on the roster.

Logan Morrison hit his 10th homer in the team’s 39th game. That’s the fastest a Rays hitter has gotten to 10 since 2009, when Carlos Pena hit 10 in 24 games and Evan Longoria did it in 30 games.
