Bills’ keys to victory: They want to rattle QB Sam Darnold. The rookie is on an abysmal threegame stretch, the most recent of which featured four interceptions and zero touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins. Darnold was under constant pressure when he wasn’t being fed awful snaps from C Spencer Long, so the Jets really need to step it up in the trenches. This one is shaping up to be an offensively challenged contest with lots of quarterback turnovers.
Jets’ keys to victory: The Jets have been awful lately, but they haven’t been at the Nathan Peterman/Bills levels of awful. The Buffalo quarterback is coming off yet another terrible performance, this time throwing three interceptions in a 41-9 loss to the Chicago Bears. Even when Peterman doesn’t turn the ball over, he plays behind a line that’s susceptible to pressure. The Jets defense played well in the loss at Miami but forced zero turnovers. If the Jets can get to Peterman, they shouldn’t have a problem coming up with at least a pick or two.
Matchup to watch: Bills QB Nathan Peterman vs. Jets secondary. CB Trumaine Johnson could return and make the secondary whole again. That’s bad news for Peterman.
Who wins? The Jets’ losing streak is the product of the same mistakes being repeated, but that shouldn’t be as much of an issue against the bumbling Bills. While Darnold does need some help from his supporting cast, look for him to minimize the turnovers and win a low-scoring game.
