Seahawks (4-4) at Rams (8-1)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles
TV: CBS
Danny Sheridan’s line: by 10
Seahawks’ keys to victory: The Seahawks will go as far as QB Russell Wilson takes them, which could be all the way to the playoffs. To beat the Rams, however, they’ll have to establish the run with RBs Chris Carson and Mike Davis. The Rams have been susceptible to strong ground attacks this season, and the Seahawks certainly have the backfield talent to rack up big yardage. In their first matchup, the Seahawks had 190 yards rushing, by far the most the Rams have allowed all season.
Rams’ keys to victory: The Seahawks have been just average against the run this season, which could make for a big game for RB Todd Gurley. In Week 5 against Seattle, Gurley had 77 yards on 22 attempts, and he’ll be looking for even more yardage this time. The Rams were able to win 33-31 thanks to Gurley’s two second-half touchdowns, but he’ll have to be more effective running the ball this week. If Gurley struggles, the Rams could be in trouble.
Matchup to watch: Seahawks LG Ethan Pocic vs. Rams DT Aaron Donald. Donald hardly had his best game of the season against Seattle in Week 5, recording just one sack and one quarterback hit. The Seahawks offensive line is much improved this season and made a concerted effort to slow down Donald.
Who wins? This game won’t be as high scoring as the teams’ first meeting, but Gurley will be better and the Rams defense will step up against a Seahawks offense that played unexpectedly well against L.A. the first time.
