USA TODAY Sports Weekly - - INSIDE - Eddie Timanus

When: Saturday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m. ET, CBS

Where: Lincoln Financial Field,

The game: This is the 119th meeting, and Navy holds a 60-51-7 lead, in large part to a 14-game winning streak from 2002 to 2015. But the pendulum has begun to swing back toward the Black Knights under head coach Jeff Monken. Army, ranked No. 25 in the Amway Coaches Poll, can clinch its second consecutive 10-win season with their third win in a row in the series. The disparity in the records should not be taken as an indication of a mismatch. Navy’s 34-7 win in 2013 is the only one of the last seven series meetings decided by more than a touchdown. Both academies use option-based offenses. The leading ground gainer for Army is senior fullback Darnell Woolfolk, who has 823 rushing yards and 14 TDs. Quarterback Kelvin Hopkins has 783 yards and 10 scoring runs, and he has also thrown for an efficient 895 yards and six TDs. Navy’s best weapon is junior QB Malcolm Perry, who has rushed for 1,035 yards and has excellent speed in the open field. He’s not as effective when he has to throw, so Garret Lewis sometimes takes the reins when the team is in comeback mode. Defensive leaders include LBs James Nachtigal and Cole Christiansen for the Black Knights and Navy LBs Taylor Heflin and Hudson Sullivan.
