TOP 5 PROSPECTS MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL ANALYST

- Chris Blessing

1. Joey Bart, C: The second overall pick in the 2018 draft, Bart is a rare catching prospect with plus offensive and defensive skills. Some contact concerns hurt his hit tool, but he has plus-plus power to all fields with 30+ homer potential at projection in the majors. The 22year-old will jump to advanced Class A.

2. Heliot Ramos, OF: Ramos has plus power potential and made strides with his hit tool despite a .245 batting average in 485 at-bats at Class A. He has an aggressive approach but shortened up his swing. Just 19, he should make the leap to advanced Class A.

3. Alexander Canario, OF: Canario made his stateside debut in 2018, hitting .250 with six home runs in rookie ball. He is patient with a natural ability to find the barrel but will need to shorten his swing. At 18, he is a plus runner but could lose a step with added bulk. He’ll likely head to full-season Class A.

4. Logan Webb, RHP: Webb fully returned from elbow surgery with 1042⁄3 innings across Classes A and AA. He relies on a heavy two-seam fastball, an aboveaverage slider with two-plane break and an 11-to-5 curveball. The 22-year-old gave up 13 runs in six starts at AA.

5. Ray Black, RHP: Black, 28, enjoyed his first healthy season as a pro and made his big-league debut. He throws a high-octane fastball with late movement, with a slider from the same plane. Black has a closer’s mentality and should start 2019 in the big-league bullpen.
