Storyline of the week
Renfrow gets the best of Ramsey? The Raiders and Rams held a joint practice, and third-year WR Hunter Renfrow may have stolen the show. According to news media reports, he beat All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey from the slot. If you ask Ramsey, the whole thing got blown out of proportion. Yet Ramsey complimented Renfrow, who continues to be an underrated receiver among NFL circles but remains a big part of the offense. “For me personally I don’t really know when people are talking. I’m just kind of locked in and doing my job. But yeah it was definitely spirited. He’s obviously a great player,” Renfrow said. Look for the former Clemson receiver to see an even bigger workload in 2021 with the uncertainty at wide receiver.
Rookie watch
The defense suddenly has a lot of depth at the end position. However, the Raiders are trying to find ways to get third-round pick and DE Malcolm Koonce on the field. Whether it’s as a situational pass rusher or as a standup strongside linebacker, Koonce has performed well in training camp for Las Vegas. – Marcus Mosher, Raiders Wire
