NY GIANTS

-

Storyline of the week

The Fighting Joe Judges: The Giants earned that humorous nickname a season ago for how scrappy they were under their first-year head coach. That’s taken on a new meeting in 2021 as the team has become more of a fight club, however. Two weeks removed from their full-team brawl, the Giants conducted joint practices with the Browns in Cleveland and nearly made it through without incident. But 15 minutes after the final practice, Giants WR Sterling Shepard and Browns CB Troy Hill squared up and began throwing haymakers. The scrap infuriated both

Judge and Browns coach Kevin Stefanski. Both players are expected to be disciplined internally.

Rookie watch

After dominating Jets OT Mekhi Becton in Week 1 of the preseason, LB Azeez Ojulari took his skill on the road and unleashed it in Cleveland. During joint practices with the Browns and then in a Week 2 preseason game, Ojulari repeatedly flashed. The second-round pick still needs to improve against the run but is proving to be an explosive edge rush option. – Dan Benton, Giants Wire
