NEW ORLEANS
Comeback kids: The Saints brought in former Chicago Bears draft bust Kevin White, who immediately made a splash in the wide receiver corps after the team cut Jake Lampman and Tommylee Lewis. However, White had no receptions in Week 2 of the preseason vs. Jacksonville while Lil’Jordan Humphrey may have distanced himself with four catches for 74 yards and a touchdown. New Orleans also added S Jeff Heath. And K Aldrick Rosas was signed to fill in after Brett Maher landed on injured reserve, though the former Pro Bowler is very much a stopgap until Wil Lutz is healthy.
Rookie watch
Competition is heating up in the secondary. CB Paulson Adebo is improving every day and pushing Ken Crawley for a starting job, and a trio of rookie safeties have continued to impress: Eric Burrell, Deuce Wallace and Bryce Thompson each have a shot at winning a roster spot. Elsewhere, first-round pick Payton Turner and second-round pick Pete Werner have missed time with undisclosed injuries, though Werner returned in a limited capacity last week.
