NEW ENGLAND

- – Henry McKenna, Patriots Wire

Storyline of the week

Just how important is Jakobi Meyers? The unfortunate reality of the Patriots’ preseason and training camp has been that Meyers is still the team’s top pass catching option. After signing TEs Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry and WRs Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne, the Patriots seem to be heavily reliant upon Meyers. The tight ends have been dealing with injuries, though Smith is further along than Henry. Agholor and Bourne haven’t showed anything special. It looks like Meyers will be WR1.

RB Rhamondre Stevenson has moved into the spotlight with the Patriots deciding to trade RB Sony Michel to the Rams. Apparently, Stevenson’s preseason performances have been impressive enough for New England to part ways with Michel, a former first-round pick who has rushed for 14 touchdowns over three seasons. Stevenson will be a key member of a deep running back corps, led by Damien Harris and James White.
