WASHINGTON
Storyline of the week
Starters rest: Washington coach Ron Rivera made the decision to rest all of his starters in the preseason finale against Baltimore. While many fans were concerned about the lack of production from the first-team offense this summer, Rivera felt he’d seen enough. He said after the game he didn’t want to risk any injuries. No one will remember a 37-3 preseason loss in two weeks.
Rookie watch
Washington’s top four rookies – LB
Jamin Davis, RT Sam Cosmi, CB Benjamin St-Juste and WR Dyami Brown – are all expected to either start or have considerable roles in 2021. Therefore, no one played in the preseason finale. Cosmi, St-Juste and Brown all stood out this summer. Davis is still learning on the job. Fifth-round pick and safety Darrick Forrest missed the final preseason game with a hamstring injury. Undrafted rookie rookie RB Jaret Patterson was the story of training camp. He was quiet in the preseason finale, though he had an impressive blitz pickup, something the coaches wanted to see.
