Wide receiver
Trading Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders brings back draft capital, but All-Pro credentials and top TD production aren’t going to be replaced overnight. A number of playmakers are needed to make this offense work, unless the Packers truly believe in Randall Cobb and Sammy Watkins as lead receivers. Amari Rodgers stands to gain from Adams’ departure but the 2021 third-round pick appears to be limited to the slot, where Aaron Rodgers’ trusted ally Cobb is still standing. Arkansas WR Treylon Burks is pro-ready.
David Bakhtiari’s redshirt season to tend to a surgically repaired knee casts some doubt on the position when coupled with the release of Dennis Kelly. Elgton Jenkins, an All-Pro at guard, was solid at left tackle in a pickle. At the very least, right tackle is on the needs list. Kelly was capable at multiple positions and saved the Packers from other failed experiments.
Outside linebacker
Keeping Preston Smith with a contract extension and Rashan Gary’s play are confidence builders. Knowing the toll injuries have taken at this position in recent years pushes pass rusher to the top of the list on defense.
Nickel cornerback
Jaire Alexander isn’t going anywhere and likely nets some of the money that would’ve gone to Adams before next March. No Kevin King for rotational depth has the Packers making plans for a new face at the nickel/slot CB position.
Defensive line
A true nose tackle would benefit a defense that wasn’t great in short yardage.
