Bears (0-2) at Chiefs (1-1)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m. EDT, GEHA Field at Arrowhead, Kansas City, Missouri
TV: Fox
Spread (BetMGM):
Chiefs by 13
Bears’ keys to victory: The offense has struggled to get into a rhythm and needs to find a way to get QB Justin Fields comfortable early. WR DJ Moore has proved to be a dangerous playmaker, so Fields needs to look his way early and often. Offensive coordinator Luke Getsy needs to dial up more designed QB runs and play to Fields’ strengths rather than force him to be a pocket passer behind a suspect offensive line. On defense, the Bears need to bring pressure on QB Patrick Mahomes.
Chiefs’ keys to victory: The offense has gotten off to a slow start but has a chance to remedy that against a bad Chicago defense. If the Chiefs offensive line can give Mahomes time, he has a chance to carve up a depleted Bears secondary with a slew including TE Travis Kelce and WRs Skyy Moore and Kadarius Toney. RB Isiah Pacheco should also be able to find success against a struggling run defense. On defense, the Chiefs need to bring pressure on Fields and force him into the kind of mistakes that have plagued him through two weeks.
Matchup to watch: Chiefs defensive line vs. Bears offensive line. Chicago’s O-line has struggled in pass protection, and Fields has been sacked 10 times. The Chiefs last week got back Chris Jones, who totaled 1.5 sacks. If Kansas City gets consistent pressure on Fields, this game could be over early.
Who wins? The Chiefs are far and away the better team, and Mahomes should easily carve up the Bears defense.
