Who are baseball’s highest paid players?

- Scott Boeck

The Texas Rangers shelled out $500 million to sign free agent shortstop Corey Seager and second baseman Marcus Semien two years ago.

It turned out to be money well spent. World Series MVP Seager and Co. delivered a championship to Texas, the first in franchise history.

This past offseason, the Los Angeles Dodgers spent more than $1 billion for Shohei Othani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow. Will that pan out?

A single player can’t deliver a title, but he will help. Half of all major league teams have at least one player earning $25 million or more this season. Shohei Ohtani’s $70 million salary is by far the most, with Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander tied for second at $43.3 million.
