MINNESOTA VIKINGS

-

Round 1 (No. 10 overall, from Jets) — J.J. McCarthy, QB, Michigan: Physically, McCarthy, 21, generally has the goods at 6-3 and 219 pounds with more than sufficient arm talent and athleticism to make plays on the move. Though he didn’t throw all that much (more than 5,700 yards, 44 TDs, 9 INTs over past two seasons), he was a money player on third downs and in big games – namely against Ohio State and in the College Football Playoff. His intangibles and leadership qualities are renowned. His experience in a pro-style offense should also ease his transition.

Round 1 (17, from Jaguars) — Dallas Turner, LB, Alabama: Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the SEC last season while racking up 10 sacks, Turner also has a case as this draft’s premier defensive prospect – one who can bend around blockers.

Round 4 (108) — Khyree Jackson, CB, Oregon: Jackson uses size and competitive streak to stay in position. He led the Ducks with three interceptions and 12 passes defensed in 2023.

Round 6 (177, from Panthers through Jaguars) — Walter Rouse, OT, Oklahoma: Rouse has prototypical athleticism at his size for NFL offensive linemen. His athletic profile matches up well with Jawaan Taylor and his football IQ will likely keep him on an NFL roster for years. He makes for an ideal swing tackle.

Round 6 (203, from Texans through Browns and Broncos and Jets) — Will Reichard, K, Alabama: A kicker at No. 203 isn’t a waste when it’s the NCAA’s all-time points leader. Reichard made an incredible 84% of his kicks in college, including going 5-for-5 from 50 yards or more in 2023.

Round 7 (230, from Falcons through Browns and Cardinals) — Michael Jurgens, C, Wake Forest: Jurgens lacks athleticism but boasts impressive power. His short arms and average lateral quickness could be trouble in pass protection against faster rushers.

Round 7 (232, from Broncos through 49ers and Texans) — Levi Drake Rodriguez, DT, Texas A&M-Commerce: Rodriguez has tools to contribute on the interior. He needs development in technique and doesn’t have elite strength or length. But he does have strong hands.
