Former NBA star Aguirre collapses

Former DePaul and NBA star Mark Aguirre, 51, collapsed while working out at a Dallas-area athletic club Wednesday and had a cardiac catheterization to examine blood flow to his heart. Former Dallas Mavericks general manager Frank Zaccanelli told The Dallas Morning News that Aguirre did not have a heart attack. Aguirre, who will remain hospitalized a few days to have more tests done, averaged 20 points over 13 seasons in the NBA. A three-time All-Star, he was part of the two championship Detroit Pistons teams from 1988 to 1990 and still holds the Mavericks’ single-season scoring record (29.5-point average) in 1983-84.
