Moving out
A look at issues for the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers as they head into the offseason:
Bengals
-Do they re-sign safeties Chris Crocker and Reggie Nelson? Crocker dropped a potential third-quarter interception that could have tied Saturday’s game and whiffed trying to tackle Houston Texans running back Arian Foster on his 42-yard, fourthquarter touchdown run.
-G-ards Nate Livings and Mike Mcglynn must improve. The Texans got relentless inside heat on Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, sacking him a career-high four times.
-Will offensive coordinator Jay Gruden return? His teaching was pivotal to Dalton’s development. Should Gruden land a head coaching job in Jacksonville or elsewhere, will the quarterback take a step back?
Steelers
-They need more depth along the offensive line. With left tackle Max Starks’ status being iffy, the Steelers could use additional help to protect quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
-Get a quality backup at quarterback. Aging Charlie Batch won’t be around much longer. Can journeyman Byron Leftwich be relied upon as a capable reserve? His broken left arm kept him out of action in 2011.
-The Steelers produced a leaguelow 15 takeaways and were minus 13 in turnover margin during regular season. That has to change.
