Sophomore Doron Lamb is a 6-4 shooting guard from New York. He is Kentucky’s second-leading scorer at 13.5 points a game and is the Wildcats’ best three-point shooter (73-for-157, 46.5%). He was a second-team all-sec pick and was all-south Regional after scoring 21 against Indiana and 14 against Baylor, shooting a combined 9-for-17 from the field and 15-for-20 at the line. Freshman Marquis Teague is a 6-2 point guard from Indianapolis. He is Kentucky’s top playmaker, averaging 4.8 assists. He also averages 9.9 points but is not a consistent shooter (41.4% from the field, 31.2% from the arc). Both of them are considered NBA draft picks, perhaps this year. Freshman Anthony Davis is college basketball’s player of the year, a 6-10 center from Chicago who can dominate the game for stretches on both ends. He is most devastating on the defensive end, blocking shots in the paint and on the perimeter with his phenomenal quickness and reach. He leads the Wildcats in scoring (14.4), rebounding (10.2) and blocked shots (180, a school and SEC record, 4.6 a game). Sophomore Terrence Jones is a 6-9 power forward from Portland, Ore. He is a powerful presence in the paint who is a bit inconsistent but usually productive (12.4 ppg, 7.2 rpg). Freshman Michael Kidd-gilchrist is a 6-7 wing from New Jersey who is an explosive athlete and capable of carrying the ’Cats offensively (11.9 ppg, 7.5 rpg). All are considered future pros. Davis is considered the likely top pick in this year’s NBA draft, and Kidd-gilchrist is a likely top-five pick.
