The methodology
Predicting the results on American
Idol isn’t a science. But it’s fun to approach it that way. We’ve come up with a pseudoscientific formula to gauge each finalist’s momentum heading into the next round of competition, based on criteria such as song choice, performance order, judges’ verdict and online buzz. Contestants can score up to 100 points or — if they’re in danger — into doubledigit negative numbers. About Ken Barnes: A Seattlebased music journalist, he has written Idol Meter since 2009.
