Gingrich unlikely to take Romney post
Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich says he probably wouldn’t accept a job in Mitt Romney’s Cabinet, if the former Massachusetts governor wins the White House in November and such an offer is extended.
Gingrich told WILM-AM’S Elliot In the Morning show Thursday that he’s not opposed to Romney, the likely GOP presidential nominee. He says he would back Romney over President Obama.
But the former House speaker said he would prefer to be an informal adviser to a potential Romney administration, as he was during the presidency of Republican George W. Bush. Gingrich says he wants to enjoy his life and his family.
“If the choice does end up being Romney vs. Obama, I can be very enthusiastic for Romney,” he said.
Gingrich remains in the presidential race but lags far behind Romney in delegates needed to secure the nomination.
