A two-man race: Obama vs. Romney

Ron Christie,

in The New York Times: “What type of campaign must (Mitt) Romney conduct to unseat (President) Obama? Conventional wisdom would say that Romney should woo evangelical Christians and other rock-ribbed members of the GOP base to ride to victory. I strongly disagree. More than any other issue today, Americans are deeply concerned about the state of the economy. . . . This economic uncertainty is the Achilles’ heel of the Obama campaign. During the first two years of his administration, the president pursued a health care bill . . . rather than focusing on the economy. If the economy falters between now and November, Obama remains vulnerable to the charge that he didn’t do enough to stimulate strong economic growth.”
