Washington’s Ryan Zimmerman scored on Alfredo Simon’s wild pitch with two outs in the 10th inning. Matt Garza pitched three-hit ball for 8Z innings, and Chicago handed Zack Greinke his worst defeat in 1½ years.

Madison Bumgarner allowed four hits over 7z innings and took a no-hit bid into the sixth for San Francisco.

Shane Victorino and Ty Wigginton homered and Joe Blanton pitched seven strong innings for Philadelph­ia. Arizona’s Ian Kennedy (2-0) struck out nine in six innings, allowing one run and five hits, to remain perfect (6-0) against San Diego.

Chris Capuano (1-0) struck out seven in his first home game with Los Angeles, which completed a three-game sweep.
