Into the Abyss
In this documentary about three murders in Conroe, Texas, director Werner Herzog explores why people kill and why a state executes people. The film focuses on two people convicted of the crimes — one received the death penalty (he was executed in 2010, eight days after being interviewed for the film), the other a life sentence. Each blames the other for the murders. Herzog also gives the perspectives of police and the victims’ families.
