Heat forces Boston runners to adjust
Many of the 27,000 runners signed up for the Boston Marathon were spending their last day before the race trying to decide whether to deal with the heat forecast for today or take a deferment and run next year. With temperatures expected to rise into the mid-80s, marathon officials offered registered runners an opportunity to sit out and take their chances in 2013. The race’s medical staff is telling people who are inexperienced and those who have been ill not to run. Those who do run are being advised to slow their pace and not go for a personal record. That also applies to the elite athletes competing for victory in the 116th edition of the race.
