Hutcherson to receive top GLAAD award

The Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson, 19, will receive the highest honor from the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation on Saturday. At a ceremony in Los Angeles, he will be presented with the Vanguard Award, which recognizes media profession­als who raise awareness about the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgende­r community. In 2010, Hutcherson starred as the son of a lesbian couple in the movie The Kids Are All Right, which received a GLAAD Media Award for outstandin­g film. He is one of the founders of the LGBT ally organizati­on Straight But Not Narrow (SBNN), and he has been outspoken about why equality for LGBT people is important.
