Team needs

- Compiled by Bob Velin

Chicago Bears: They re-signed Israel Idonije, but he had five sacks playing across from Julius Peppers. The Bears did not get a consistent rush on opposing passers last season.

Green Bay Packers: They need to upgrade their league-worst pass rush and give linebacker Clay Matthews III much-needed help. And defensive end Mike Neal is suspended for the first four games next season.

Jacksonville Jaguars: They would have liked to have added free agent Mario Williams, who signed with the Buffalo Bills. The Jaguars resigned Jeremy Mincey but need depth.

Miami Dolphins: With Jason Taylor’s retirement, Cameron Wake is their only proven pass rusher. The Dolphins could use Quinton Coples.

New England Patriots: They have several needs on the defensive side of the ball, including youth on the edges. Mark Anderson left as a free agent for the Bills, and Andre Carter is returning from a torn thigh muscle. The Patriots should consider Whitney Mercilus or Andre Branch.

New York Jets: They are high on Melvin Ingram and could trade up to get him. Aaron Maybin led the Jets last season with six sacks, and Calvin Pace and Bart Scott are getting old.

Tennessee Titans: They were 30th in the league in getting to the passer and also had interest in Williams in free agency. With the 20th pick, the Titans could go after Mercilus or Ingram, if either is available.

Seattle Seahawks: They must upgrade their pass rush after finishing with 33 sacks in 2011, tied for 19th in the league. The Seahawks have one of the best young defensive backfields in the league but need more pressure up front.
