Don’t repeat mistakes of Iraq, Afghanistan in Iran

-

In Thursday’s Other views in the Baghdad conference debate, the quote from Mitt Romney shows that he is quick to fault President Obama for any of his current actions with Iran. Romney states that the president should have communicated to Iran “that we are considering military options” (“Set clear bar for Iran”).

Any student of current history would see that our military forays into Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan have netted us little. The costs of these wars have added to our national debt, not to mention the loss of lives among our servicemembers. And now we have a presidential contender seemingly willing to continue with military actions in this same vein. Will we never learn? Will the lessons of the elusive weapons of mass destruction never be comprehended?
