NHL LOCKOUT

-

DAY 53

Did they talk? They met for 51⁄ hours in New York and plan to

2 meet again today.

What’s going on? The agenda included the NHL’s proposal to “make whole” players’ salaries while cutting their share of hockeyrelated revenue, but the early part of talks dealt with revenue sharing among teams. The NHL Players’ Association’s approach has been to increase revenue sharing to help financially stressed teams.

What we missed: Three games, including Pittsburgh Penguins at Toronto Maple Leafs. Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby would be facing the second-worst defensive team of 2011-12.

Real hockey: Philadelphia Flyers winger Max Talbot signed with Ilves Tampere in Finland.
