Jones-drew in scuffle, police say
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been accused of misdemeanor battery resulting from a fight at the Conch House Restaurant and Marina on Sunday in St. Augustine, Fla.
According to St. Augustine police, an altercation broke out on the dock of the facility about 8 p.m. ET. JonesDrew allegedly struck a Conch House security officer on the side of the head, knocking him out. Jones-Drew left the scene before police arrived. Police said he had not been charged with a crime and was cooperating with the investigation.
Jones-Drew, who missed 10 games last season with a foot injury, has been recovering and training in South Florida.
The Jaguars issued a statement Tuesday saying they were aware of the situation and were gathering information. Hayden hurting: Oakland Raiders rookie cornerback D.J. Hayden is in a Bay Area hospital after having surgery to remove scar tissue from his abdomen.
The surgery was performed late last week. Hayden, a projected starter, will miss the rest of offseason workouts but was expected to be ready for training camp in July, coach Dennis Allen said Tuesday.
Hayden suffered a near-fatal injury in a November practice at the University of Houston when a collision resulted in a torn vein in his chest. Foster gimpy: Running back Arian Foster strained his right calf during the Houston Texans’ organized team activities Tuesday.
Foster, who ran for 1,424 yards last season, was injured on the first play of team drills.
Coach Gary Kubiak said it was unclear exactly how Foster was injured, but he was taken off the practice field on a cart.
