There are basically two kinds of TV design shows. There are those such as HGTV’s Property Brothers that (despite a heavy dose of fantasy) attempt to show what can be done on a limited budget while stressing cooperation among all involved. Then there are competition shows, which put less stress on teaching and none on cooperation, instead favoring the usual reality-show tropes of sniping, back-biting and faux drama. Dream Builders is the latter, as competing teams of designers renovate homes. The losing team has to eliminate one designer each week.
