A duodenoscope is a special type of endoscope that is threaded down a patient’s throat to treat gallstones, certain cancers and other digestive disorders, usually in the bile or pancreatic ducts. The device has an “elevator” mechanism at its tip, which allows doctors to control tiny devices that extend from the scope.
