Give these rarities a spin

-

Saturday’s 8th Record Store Day will see the release of hundreds of limited-edition vinyl (and at least one cassette!) projects from top artists. Kristin Musulin highlights 10 must-haves for USA TODAY.

METALLICA

A remastered seven-song demo cassette, No Life ’til Leather, will be released as a Record Store Day exclusive. Recorded in 1982, the cassette contains the early versions of the band’s 1983 triple-platinum album, Kill ’em All.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN

The Boss’ The Album Collection Vol. 1, 1973-1984 will be issued as seven individual 12-inch records. The remastered LPs will be on 180-gram audiophile vinyl.

PAUL MCCARTNEY

The 1967 soundtrack to The Family Way, composed by McCartney, will be released as a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl. The original George Martin-produced recording has long been out of print.

THE FLAMING LIPS

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of their seventh studio album, Clouds Taste Metallic, the group will release three limited-edition 10-inch colored vinyl EPs. The records — Bad Days, This Here Giraffe and Brainville — each contain rarities that have never been released in the USA.

FATHER JOHN MISTY

On the heart-shaped, 7-inch vinyl I Loved You, Honeybee, Misty presents an acoustic version of the title track along with an exclusive B-side, Never Been A Woman.
