JAGUAR F-PACE CROSSOVER
Jaguar gave a debut to its first SUV, the 2017 F-Pace, a model that heats up the market.
The midsize crossover is aimed squarely at luxury competitors such as the Porsche Macan.
The vehicle will serve as a test of whether the automaker can sell a luxury SUV under the Jaguar brand even though it also has a full slate of rugged Land Rover models.
Automakers are racing to lure shoppers with new luxury crossover models that deliver a comfortable ride without compromising fuel economy or craftsmanship.
“We designed the all-new F-Pace to be first and foremost a Jaguar,” Jaguar design director Ian Callum said in a statement. “That’s why it has exciting proportions, a dynamic stance, pure surfaces and a beautiful sensuality about it.”
In the U.S., F-Pace is likely to come with a supercharged 380-horsepower, 6-cylinder engine that can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.1 seconds as one of its engine choices. It’s the same engine found in a version of the F-Type sports car.
The crossover comes to showrooms in the spring. Base prices range from $40,990 to $56,700. The company did not reveal fuel economy
figures.
