Russia recently stepped up its support of Syrian President Bashar Assad in a civil war by launching missile strikes.

The U.S. wants Bashar Assad out. Why is the United States calling for the overthrow of other countries’ governments? Why don’t we just leave them alone and mind our own business? We have really messed up things over in the Middle East. That’s how the Islamic State was created. Mike Jones

If we are supporting those fighting the Syrian regime and the Islamic State, also known as ISIL, and the Russians are accused of bombing our friends in the region, it seems we should be providing missiles to our allies to shoot down the Russian planes bombing them. Or we should be providing air support to them to chase the Russians away. It seems as if we are not taking the situation seriously. Ronald Brodt

America should act like Russia! When we’re going in there to bomb the Islamic State, we should hit Assad’s forces, too! Then just tell the Russians we were hitting terrorist groups. That works for me.

Russia wants to play hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. Then why doesn’t the U.S. play along? We’ll get rid of Assad and the Islamic State. Ken Boland

The United States has been bogged down in the Middle East now for more than 14 years.

We spent a lot of money and lost a lot of lives. I say let the Russians have a try! Russians don’t play by “rules of engagement” like we do. They get the job done. Randal Colling

A Russian-run Syria would be far better than an ISIL-run Syria. We can leave and mind our own business for a change. Boodrow Malone
