WHAT I WANT FROM SMARTPHONES IN 2016
Five fixes that would make your experience even better
Smartphones got even better this year, with more beautiful screens, faster performance and better-than-ever cameras.
But we still have problems. As much as you love your phone, would you give it an A+? Or is there room for improvement?
Well, here’s what I want to see fixed in 2016:
The No. 1 request from consumers are longer-lasting bat
teries. Let’s get a phone that lasts the entire day on a charge, what do you say? Forget about any other new feature for the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy of 2016. If Apple and Samsung can fix these, we don’t really need anything else, do we?
Screens that stop cracking so easily. Surely there’s got to be a solution for this. Apple almost got there with Sapphire glass in 2014 but then backed off, feeling the company making it hadn’t perfected the crack-free screen yet. Hopefully we’ll see it in 2016.
Realistic memory in starter phones. You can’t buy a phone with the starter 16 GB of memory and expect to function in life. Between a big operating system, never-ending collection of photos and videos and all those apps, you’re out of room on the phone within days. The new standard — it has to be 64 GB.
Wireless charging. How many times have you run into someone’s house and asked to plug in — just for a minute? We need wireless charging to become a reality in 2016, and big time, wouldn’t you say?
Finally, we need to find a way to rid our phones of bloat
ware. I don’t want Apple Wallet, iBooks or Maps on my start page. Can I delete them on the iPhone 7, please? And Samsung phones are no better: They’re filled with bloatware, mostly from the wireless carriers. Let’s fix this, people.
Those are the five fixes I’m looking for in 2016.
How about you?
