Will he criticize ex-peers?

- Jeff Gluck

CHARLOTTE Four-time NASCAR Cup champion Jeff Gordon retired after the 2015 season as an extremely well-liked and respected driver among his peers.

But what will happen when, in his role as an analyst, he has to criticize some of those he used to race against? It’s simple, he told USA TODAY Sports. He will try to be factual and avoid speculating.

“If I see something (during races) and I can analyze it in a way where I have a very good understanding or camera angles or enough information to say this is what happened, then I’m going to call it the way I see it,” Gordon said.

“But I don’t want to guess as to what they were thinking or doing, because I’ll get called out on that. They’ll say, ‘Hey, that’s not what happened at all. You really missed it.’

“I’ll be the first one to apologize and say I was wrong in that situation.”
