Trump towers over D.C.
It’s unclear whether Washington will get a Trump in the White House, but at the very least, it will get a Trump hotel by September.
The historic Old Post Office building has been in renovations to become a Trump hotel for years. Its opening date has now been pushed up to this fall, two years ahead of schedule and just in time for the presidential election. Donald Trump is a leading Republican Party candidate.
Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C., is scheduled to open in September on Pennsylvania Avenue, just a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol and the White House.
The Trump Organization has spent years transforming the 19th-century landmark into a luxury hotel, keeping the original stonework, wood milling and paneling. The hotel will have 263 rooms and suites. There will be a 6,300-square-foot Trump Townhouse with a private entrance.
Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, has been a leading figure in the development of the property.
“It has been an incredible journey transforming the Old Post Office into what will be the finest luxury hotel in the country — if not the world,” she says.
