$10 MILLION RACE NEXT FOR CALIFORNIA CHROME

-

It’s on to the world’s richest race for California Chrome. The 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner appears to be back in top form after an easy 2length victory in a $150,000 race in Dubai on Thursday, a second consecutive win for the popular horse on the comeback trail. “I feel it was a good race,” winning jockey Victor Espinoza said after the race of about 11⁄ miles at

4 Meydan Racecourse. “I don’t think it was very hard. It was a good solid race for the next one.” And that next one would be the $10 million Dubai World Cup on March 26. Now 5 years old, California Chrome has won two in a row after a close-call, secondplace finish in the 2015 World Cup. After that race, California Chrome was sent to train in England and then back to the USA. However, it was revealed he had a bruised bone in a leg and did not race for about 10 months before returning and winning the San Pasqual Stakes at Santa Anita Park on Jan. 9.
