U.N.: SYRIA CEASE-FIRE HOLDING ‘BY AND LARGE’
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon said a temporary cessation of hostilities in Syria was holding “by and large” Monday, a day after the Syrian opposition said that attacks by the army and Russia threatened the agreement.
Ban told reporters in Geneva that he wanted the deal extended beyond the initial two weeks and said he received a letter from the Syrian umbrella opposition group, the High Negotiations Committee, urging the U.N. to help “specify the territory covered by the truce to prevent hostilities in the designated inclusion zones.”
