POLICE: MAN TRIED TO SELL FAKE DUKE-UNC TICKETS

The Duke-North Carolina basketball rivalry attracts people from across the country, including a man who police say came from New York to sell fake tickets to the upcoming game. The News & Observer of Raleigh reports Dana

Baron White, 21, was charged with having counterfei­ted goods intended for sale and worth more than $3,000, and trying to obtain property by false pretenses for meeting with an undercover police officer. Both offenses are felo- nies. Authoritie­s say White was arrested Monday in Raleigh with what an arrest warrant obtained by the North Carolina Secretary of State’s office said were 21 counterfei­t tickets advertised at $300 each on Craigslist. As of Tuesday, websites were selling tickets to Saturday’s regular-season finale in Durham for between $925 and $2,500 apiece.
