FLORIDA SUSPENDS TABOR, LEWIS FOR FIGHT IN PRACTICE

-

Florida coach Jim McElwain suspended standout cornerback Teez Tabor and tight end

C’yontai Lewis, saying neither would play in the team’s season opener against Massachusetts. McElwain made the announcement Wednesday but did not say what prompted the suspensions. A person familiar with the situation said Tabor and Lewis were being punished for fighting in practice. The person spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because McElwain had not revealed the reason behind the suspensions. McElwain said, “We will not look the other way when it comes to breaking of team policies. ... There are life lessons in everything we do. ... No one person is bigger than the Florida Gators.”
