ARMY QB BRADSHAW ABRUPTLY LEAVES PROGRAM

-

Army junior Ahmad Bradshaw, the Black Knights’ likely starting quarterback for 2016, abruptly left the program, the team learned. Bradshaw had just spearheaded the first-team offense in a scrimmage Saturday. Bradshaw’s decision to leave the academy came after West Point held its affirmation ceremony for the upcoming academic year Sunday, according to the Times Herald

Record of Middletown, N.Y. During the ceremony, juniors take an oath to complete their final two seasons at West Point and commit to five years of active duty upon graduation. Bradshaw missed most of his freshman season with an unspecified academy matter. “He has some administrative stuff for something on campus,” Army coach Jeff Monken said after practice. “There’s things, especially with the start of school, just stuff you can’t control.” Injury-laden quarterback

Chris Carter started the final two games of 2015 and appears to be next in line. After that, the Black Knights have four freshmen who could see time. Army’s season opens Sept. 2 at Temple.
