‘Marvel’s Iron Fist,’ Oscar films lead March lineup
March highlights from major streaming and cable on-demand services:
WEDNESDAY
National Treasure (Hulu). A beloved comedian ( Harry Potter’s Robbie Coltrane) is arrested and accused of committing rape in the 1990s in this four-part limited series.
MONDAY
Midsomer Murders (Acorn). The stalwart British mystery series begins its 19th season.
TUESDAY
Moana (On Demand). Disney’s Polynesian adventure was nominated for an Oscar for animated feature and original song. Jackie (On Demand). See why Natalie Portman earned an Oscar nomination for her work as former first lady Jackie Kennedy. Amy Schumer: The Leath
er Special (Netflix). The Emmy-winning comedian’s stand-up special delves into her life as a “newly famous woman who looks like someone you grew up with.”
MARCH 10
Hand of God (Amazon). The drama starring Ron Perlman as a judge preoccupied with visions of his dead son returns for its second (and final) season.
MARCH 14
Fences (On Demand). The story of a working-class African American couple in the 1950s earned four Oscar nominations, with Viola Davis winning for supporting actress.
MARCH 16
Snatch (Crackle). The wizarding world’s favorite ginger, Rupert Grint, stars as a criminal with a double-barreled surname who has left his posh surroundings behind.
MARCH 17
Marvel’s Iron Fist (Netflix). The good news for star Finn Jones is that he gets to trade his medieval Game of Thrones costumes for more comfortable duds. The bad news? He’s been saddled with an N SYNC-era Justin Timberlake haircut. Julie’s Greenroom (Netflix). Julie Andrews’ celebrity guests (Alec Baldwin, Idina Menzel) and Jim Henson Co. puppets advocate for the arts in this new series aimed at young kids. Samurai Gourmet (Netflix). Much to our chagrin, this is not an animated series about John Belushi’s famed Saturday Night
Live Samurai Deli character opening a new eatery in search of a more upscale clientele. It’s a live-action series about a newly retired man with epicurean tastes who in his inner life is a nomadic samurai.
MARCH 24
Grace and Frankie (Netflix). The comedy series, returning for its third season, stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as women who bond after their husbands come
out as gay.
An American Girl Story — Ivy & Julie 1976: A Happy Balance
(Amazon). The third special inspired by the doll line focuses on Ivy Ling, who feels torn between her American and Chinese cultural identities.
MARCH 27
Asylum ( Acorn). A British citizen (Ben Miller) seeks asylum at the embassy of a fictional Latin-American country after leaking documents about CIA coverups, only to end up living there for a year. His new objective: trying not to go insane from boredom or obscurity.
