CHAD KELLY CUTS SHORT WORKOUT AT PRO DAY

-

Quarterback Chad Kelly cut short his throwing session at Mississippi’s pro day because of an issue with his throwing wrist, which he aggravated during training last week, his agent said. Agent Duray Oubre told USA TODAY Sports in a text message there was no structural damage to report for Kelly, who will have another throwing session for NFL personnel April 22. Pro day was Kelly’s chance to show off his arm after the NFL rescinded his invitation to February’s scouting combine, based on Kelly’s guilty plea to a non-criminal charge of disorderly conduct after an altercation outside of a Buffalo bar in January 2015. He’s the nephew of Buffalo Bills legend and Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.

uThe Washington Redskins signed inside linebacker Zach

Brown. Brown made the Pro Bowl for the Buffalo Bills last season, when he had 149 tackles, four sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. Brown, 27, has 410 tackles in five NFL seasons with the Tennessee Titans and Bills. He missed most of the 2014 season with a torn pectoral muscle and was a part-time player the next year before revitalizing his career in Buffalo. With the addition of Brown, the Redskins have the depth at middle linebacker they were lacking last year.

uThe Minnesota Vikings have signed quarterback Case Keenum, acquiring an experienced backup for starter Sam Bradford because of the unlikelihood that rehabilitating Teddy Bridgewater will be ready to play this season. Keenum started nine games in 2016 for the Los Angeles Rams before they turned to rookie Jared Goff. Keenum had nine touchdown passes and 11 interceptions, completing 60.9% of his passes for 2,201 yards. He is 9-15 in 24 NFL starts.
