For better or worse, Trump showed strength
President Trump authorized missile strikes on Thursday night to punish Syrian President Bashar Assad for gassing his own people two days earlier.
This military action shows strength and decisiveness by Trump.
Conversely, when Assad gassed his people in 2013, our weak and cowardly President Obama did nothing. Barry VanTrees
Whatever one’s opinion regarding the Syrian strike, Trump sent a message and accomplished more with a few missiles than hundreds of “condemnations” and a pitifully ignored “red line.” At least the world (friend or foe) is not chuckling, or outright laughing, at us as before. Jim Davis
People forget that Congress authorizes a declaration of war, not the president. Trump openly attacked another government without congressional authority, which could signify a declaration of war. It’s interesting that there were so few causalties with so many bombs. Kay Krieger
As great as it would be if air strikes could make a difference, they won’t. It’s a symbolic gesture. It would take considerably more than Tomahawk missiles to deter Assad from doing just what he resumed doing: bombing again. With the Russians on board with Syria, we would end up taking them on too. Not smart. Larry Hurst

I support Trump’s decision but he should have sought approval from Congress. @BLACKGRLPOLI

Odd that he didn’t care about Syrian refugees a few days ago and warned they were “flooding” into our country to kill us. #Politicalmove @allennail
We had to respond to the Syrian attack, but just know we spent millions on cruise missiles to defend children. The same children we told no to being refugees. @NathanArroyave
Somebody told him to do it. Trump can’t think on his own! @eileenhargis1
