As president, Trump just keeps winning

With President Trump’s 100th day in office nearing on Saturday, the news media and pundits have already begun the process of analyzing his performance so far.

Trump is angering all the right people. There is much to criticize about Trump, but he is shaking things up in Washington, and that’s a good thing. Thomas Comerford

Trump’s 100th day of presidency — which thus far includes 25 executive orders, 22 memoranda and 20 proclamations — shows his actions are more cosmetic than they are substantive.

Many of the actions establish big goals, but few provide legislative prescriptions. They order agency reviews and studies, ask for recommendations or tinker at the margins of existing law.

Trump’s use of executive authority to break ground on his platform is hardly unusual. But the pomp and pageantry is uniquely “Trumpian.” Massimo Marino

Nominating and confirming Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court was worth the next 30 years alone. Tom Mahaffie

Not a single piece of legislation, just the autocratic executive orders that Republicans decried when President Obama used them. Democrats didn’t even need to be united in their opposition to the new health care bill the Republicans tried to pass; their own members killed it.

No health care repeal and replace, no wall, no Muslim ban, no tax reform, no destroying the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, and no millions of new jobs. John W. Smith

If there was just this alone, I’d consider it a monumental accomplishment. Illegal border crossings have gone down. Putting the heat on sanctuary cities, another plus.

It’s good to see a president who respects and wants to protect the sovereignty of the country he leads.

Trump is also showing the world he isn’t a pushover like Obama. North Korea, Syria and Iran needed to know they can’t bully and threaten without consequence. Don Scotter
