If Congress wants to get to the bottom of the
Russian connection, or at least appear to be doing so, I suggest it follows the money. There is every suggestion that a cabal is involved in what transpired with former FBI director James Comey. The firing of Comey, after he confirmed Russian connections to Trump’s campaign were being investigated, is just the latest evidence. Excuses for the firing were at best lame.
During his presidential campaign, Trump suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin help find Hillary Clinton’s missing emails, and that a friendship with Russia would be a good thing. Even Obama’s warning against Michael Flynn only resulted in Trump hiring Flynn as national security adviser. And Flynn was fired only when the truth of his dealings with Russia emerged. Add to these facts Trump’s refusal to divulge tax records, and we have a case for demanding that an independent prosecutor be appointed to follow the money. Jim Young Middletown, Del.
